  • Temple Beth-El Annex Building 213 Roseneath Rd Richmond, VA, 23221 United States (map)

A workshop by

R. Keith Bell, L.Ac.

Course Description

The birth of a child is always a miracle, but it’s not always easy. Prolonged pain and discomfort can cause exhaustion, anxiety and fear while minor complications all too often lead to unnecessary medical interventions. Now, more than ever, it’s important that Doulas and Mid-wives develop the skills needed to actively support a safe and satisfying natural birth experience for their clients.

Acupressure is a simple, holistic, hands-on tool that encourages the body to work more efficiently and promotes natural labor. It has proven to provide immediate relief of labor pain and can safely treat a variety of issue, including: * Nausea/Morning Sickness * Insomnia * Labor Induction * Established Labor * Malposition of fetus * Insufficient Lactation

Acupressure can be done in any birth setting and does require advanced training Chinese medicine or massage to done effectively. Acupressure techniques can also provide partners a chance to actively participate in birth. Women who’ve used Acupressure during labor have consistently reported a reduction in their pain and improved sense of calm.

This experiential workshop provides practitioners with a fundamental understanding of Acupressure theory and practical training in several acupressure useful techniques and protocols. You’ll also learn how best utilize and market your new skills and when it’s best to refer your client to Acupuncturist or Doctor.

With something as simple as your touch you can provide valuable support while profoundly enhancing your clients the natural childbirth experience.
